FAQ’S
HERE’S HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
Every cosmetic whitening treatment starts with a consultation. Our experienced teeth whitening professional will discuss any queries you might have about the whitening process before your treatment and assess your initial shade.
Prior to your treatment, you will arrive with already cleaned teeth so all you will have to do is use one of our specially formulated teeth wipes to prepare your teeth for the whitening procedure.
Your mouth will be fitted with a special cheek/lip retractor to isolate your teeth. A protective vitamin E gel will be placed along your gums to help avoid any whitening gel coming in contact with these surfaces.
Now you sit back and relax with your protective glasses on and we apply our dental grade whitening gel to your teeth. A professional dental LED light will then be used to activate the process.
Every 15-20 minutes we repeat step #4 to get multiple activation of the gel with the LED in your treatment to achieve the best results possible. Between applications the gel will be removed and fresh gel placed for optimal results. Bring on those pearly whites!
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
The actual treatment will take between 45 - 60 minutes depending on the selected whitening package, but we recommend allocating an additional 15-30 minutes of your time for your complimentary full consultation and after care advice.
HOW MANY SHADES WHITER?
This depends entirely on the person’s physiology or make up of their tooth structure and habits (stain from coffee, tea, red wine or smoking etc). Our customers regularly achieve results of 2-8 shades whiter; with the average improvement being 6-10 shades. It is a professional whitening product that will get your teeth to their best, natural white colour.
HOW QUICKLY WILL THE RESULTS OCCUR?
Your teeth will be whiter within one session of treatment, so if you have an important meeting or function and you have left it to the last minute, our treatment is perfect for you!
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
Most people find they like to touch up their whitening every 6-12 months, depending on the normal amount of stains you have on your enamel as well as your eating and drinking habits. Your results will last longer if you refrain from things such as coffee, tea and smoking. You may also purchase our whitening kit or booster pens to help retain your teeth whitening results between treatments.
IS THERE ANYONE THE TREATMENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR?
Our treatments are not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under the age of 16, people with gum disease, calculus build-up, open cavities, leaking fillings, or other dental conditions, or people with a known allergy to peroxide, aloe vera, or vitamin E. Clients that are taking photoreactive drugs should consult with their physician about the use of an LED accelerator lamp with these treatments (Chlorthiazide, Hydrochlorothiazide, Chlorthalidone, Naprosyn, Oxaprozin, Nabumetone , Pirozicam, Doxycycline, Ciprfloxacin, Ofloxacin, Psoralens, Democlocyline, Norfloxacin, Sparfloxacin, Sulindac, Tetracycline, St. John’s Wart, Isotretinoin, Tretinoin). People that have had braces removed should wait for cement residue to be removed before getting a teeth whitening treatment
DOES TREATMENT FIX TETRACYCLINE STAINS?
Our treatment can be effective on stains caused by the antibiotic tetracycline. Our treatment will be more effective if the stains are not too deep within the teeth. Tetracycline stains are one of the most difficult stains to remove and results will vary between clients and you may need several visits. We recommend purchasing our teeth whitening kit to continue your treatment at home to achieve long term results.
DOES TREATMENT FIX STAINS FROM SMOKING?
Yes. Although stains from smoking can often be slightly more difficult to remove, our treatment is effective for most stains caused by smoking. Our team of professionals will be able to assist and advise you on the best way to treat stains caused by smoking.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Some clients may experience tooth sensitivity during the first 24 hours after the whitening treatment. People with existing sensitivity, micro-cracks, leaking fillings, exposed roots, or other dental conditions that cause sensitivity may find that these conditions increase or prolong tooth sensitivity after the treatment. Our professional technician will be able to assist and advise you on how to lessen any sensitivity post treatment or if this treatment is recommended for you.
